El Diario: Miami Edition
Good morning. Your el diario editor is working not from her remote and quiet office in Tennessee, but from la Homeland — Miami.
Yes, she is on el bay-CAY-shion with la familia and your daily dose of boberias may be sketchy for the next couple of weeks as she gets to know relatives newly arrived from Cuba, reconnects with family and gets plenty of chismes and inspiration to share with you — all the while getting gordita on mamey shakes.

Lydia Guevarra
So, in honor of el hangeo en Miami, I am offering some escandalo Cuban-style. I know this was in the news a few days ago, but have you seen the PETA campaign starring Che Guevarra’s granddaughter, Lydia? Haven’t heard anyone freaking out here in Mami’s casa, so they must not have seen it. And sacrilege made worse: She’s vegeteriana.
And finally this morning — because it is time for the piscina — a warm-hearted story from the Miami Herald about a Cuban refugee with extra mettle. This is the kind of story that inspires people like mine, who just got here and have the world of possibilities open to them. Hope it inspires you too.

Hope you’re having a great time! The weather has been less than Miami fabulous, but it should be record hot today. Perfect for a day in la piscina!
O have fun!
