There is a Latina on the Supreme Court and now there is a Latina at the head of Disney Channels Worldwide. Overall Worldwide Domination is not far behind.
Carolina Lightcap, 42, has been appointed President of Disney Channels Worldwide. She’s a 20-year veteran of the entertainment industry who has worked for Disney in Latin America, overseeing the channel there.
From the Disney release:
A versatile and well-regarded executive who, during her career, has been based in Los Angeles, Miami and New York, Ms. Lightcap will be charged with shepherding Disney Channels Worldwide, the global leader in kid-focused, family-inclusive entertainment, through its next period of growth. The Disney Channel global executive team representing Programming and Production, Business Affairs, Business Planning and Development, Marketing, Brand Management, Advertising Sales and Radio Disney, will report to her.
Can we hear a “por favor” for a Latina Disney Princess or more Latin-friendly kid series?
Check out this fun clip from film Superchicas. It was written and directed by Juliette Carrillo and posted to the National Association of Latino Independent Producers site. We want to see more of these two.
Un poquito mas:

Thank you so much for posting the link to Superchicas. To be clear, these are four scenes I shot from my full length screenplay—it is not a short film. The film is about two Mexican American teens who are sick of the crime in their barrio and reinvent themselves as homegrown, low tech, McGyver-like superheroes and take back their neighborhood one boy at a time. I’m in the process of raising money to make the full film! Any wealthy Latinas out there that want to invest?? It’s pure Latina empowerment!
Juliette, good luck! I wish I had the dinerito. What I have is a big mouth and a platform, so when you have the funds, and it is out there, please let us know and we will spread the word.
The clip is awesome and the film sounds wonderful.
Mucha suerte and may 2010 bring you rich investors…and an Oscar nomination.
I SO can’t wait for Disney to have a Latina Princess…. Imagine that!!! (O:
