La Raza and Latino Films

The National Council of La Raza is holding its annual meeting in Chicago through tomorrow. Not without controversy. Among the speakers, Melinda Gates. You can read her full speech on education here. And, you can follow some happenings via Twitter by searching the tag #nclr.

Also happening today in Latino World, the New York Latino Film Festival starts today. You can explore the films on the site and on a secondary site, Cine Dulce, where there are mucho, mucho short films and videos.

george-lopezAnd, speaking of Latino film, comedian George Lopez’s new HBO special — Tall, Dark and Chicano — starts airing at 10 p.m. EST August 8.
