Random Acts of Bondad
Mi’jo saluda anyone and everyone. He reaches out a hand and talks to the nenes in their strollers. He either pets every animal he sees or gives it a hug. He is fearless in his compassion- reaching out to strangers or fierce-looking 100+lbs German shepherds as he would to amigos. He reminds me about random acts of kindness daily and of that important lesson that we do not always know (aunque creemos que si lo sabemos) who is lonely, or aching, or in need of encouragement.
Sometimes I worry that all the borders and boundaries relevant in my life isolate me un poco. Metaphorically, I always have a foot in another country. But when I feel like this, I’ve found that sometimes, the best way to be here, and now- to focus on people rather than place- is to practice a random act of bondad wherever I am, anywhere. To make someone else feel like they are in the right place at the right time first. Try it!
