Supermercado ala Wal-Mart

Cuando vayas al carnicero… look for him at Wal-Mart.

Spring Branch, Texas is the new home of Wal-Mart’s first Latino mercadito. Next up, Phoenix, Arizona and muchos mas. But you know who needs one? Little Boonie towns in Tennessee like the one where I live. It would be most popular if there was a taco truck parked out in front too. At the moment, I have to haul for at least 30 minutes to get some barbacoa. (But never menudo, OK?)

So, Wal-Mart has stocked the mercado aisles with tres leches and pinatas and bilingual signage. All for the pleasure of a people with a buying power of $984 billion last year.

Andale!

How esmart is Wal-Mart, huh, for grabbing customers like this?

Or not?
