Great post! My sister and I know this "grandparents detox" with our kids. Growing up we didn't have a lot of money. My parents are in a much different place now financially. When the grand kids get to visit at Nana and Tata's they have their own jolly jumper in the backyard, a motorized jeep to ride around on the ranch, hot wheels motorized tracks, cows, chickens and cupboards filled with foods like Fruit Loops and Mac and Cheese. They have a blast and then for weeks after we have to deal with our kids begging to go to Nana and Tata's house. Despite the begging I love the fact that Nana and Tata's house is such a magical and wonderful place for my daughter. I see the joy my parents get from spoiling their grandchildren with toys, food and most of all love and attention.

Oh dear, Lizzie...I love this so. When we are with my parents, what I often here is: "Pobrecita.'' Or, poor thing. Because I am constantly monitoring the amount of stuff my kid gets from them.
Of course, I am wrong and I just need to let them spoil the crapola out of her...You're lucky to have your parents close.
